Measurement of vertical surfaces is facilitated by this simplified version of the box frame which has the advantage of being much lighter. All bearing faces are ground to a flatness within 2.5 ?m (100 ?in) and adjacent faces are square to within 10 seconds of arc (0.05 mm/metre 50 ?in/in).
